Our Story
At Ecoset, our journey towards a more sustainable way of living began with our background in TV and film production. In the world of entertainment, productions can often involve large teams. We found a recurring issue: the staggering accumulation of single-use plastics, notably plastic water bottles which can quickly escalate into an environmental challenge. We recognised the pressing need for change. Determined to make a difference, we resolved to infuse our future productions with a more eco-friendly ethos, and thus, the concept of Ecoset was born.Living in Greystones, Co. Wicklow, our deep connection to the sea and the days spent on our local beach with our two young sons has fostered a deep love for our coastal surroundings. Instilling eco-consciousness in our children, guiding them to collect litter and plastic scattered across our local beaches, has become integral to our family values. We believe that every individual plays a pivotal role in preserving our precious environment.

Ecoset was born from a passion to ignite change, to break the cycle, and establish a new standard.
At Ecoset, we’re dedicated to preserving our coastline, ensuring a plastic-free legacy for generations to come. With every purchase of our water bottles, mugs, or tumblers, we pledge a percentage to support www.cleancoasts.org. Our donation directly aids the Clean Coasts grant scheme, empowering volunteer groups to access resources for local projects all across Ireland. Yearly, these funds assist Clean Coasts in collaborating with communities, safeguarding Ireland’s waterways, coastline, seas, and marine life. Together, we’re actively fostering a sustainable and cleaner environment.
Annually, the world generates nearly 300 million tons of plastic, half of which is for single-use purposes. Shockingly, over 8 million tons of plastic find their way into our oceans each year, forming colossal islands of waste. The longevity of plastic waste, taking thousands of years to decompose, contributes to this pressing issue. Notably, a substantial portion of this waste consists of plastic bottles, with only about one in five being correctly recycled. Be part of the change with us.

Co-Founder and Master Engraver at Ecoset
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Oscar Lai moved to Ireland in 2002 and has called Greystones Co. Wicklow home for the past 15 years. When not in the Ecoset workshop, you’ll likely find him on the local tennis courts. In 2020, during the global pandemic, Oscar launched Ecoset—a passion project that has grown into a thriving business. Starting small, Ecoset now offers premium reusable products stocked across Ireland and shipped worldwide, from Canada to Australia. Oscar’s dedication to sustainability drives Ecoset’s mission: to accelerate reusable product use, reduce plastic waste, and protect our oceans.
